BORES BOZCAADA WINDFARM

Bores being the third windfarm in Turkey is the second established by   Holding A.S.. The very first step in the project was the wind measurement mast erected in 1996. The feasibility analysis were finished in 1998 after completing all legal formalities the the civil works and erection is completed in three months. The powerplant is connected to the electrical network in June 2000.

Bozcaada powerplant is consisted of  17  600kW Enercon turbines. Yearly production is over 30GWh. The power plant with installed capacity of  10.2 MW required an investment of  13 Million USD. The generated electricity is 30 times bigger than the consumption on the island. The excess energy , good for 30,000 people, is sent by a submarine cable to the mainland.

The turbines are pitch controlled, variable speed and gearless. The tubular towers are produced in Turkey. To preserve the landscape the connection to the distribution tranformer station is accomplished by an underground cable.

To avoid any disturbance the powerplant is located on a distant area of the island.

But  the powerplant gets many visitors as one of the main touristic attractions  of the island. We keep a guestbook(in Turkish).
